A great way to start is by coming along as a visitor to play Social tennis (doubles) on a Wednesday or Saturday afternoon, you will get instant insight into the level of play and atmosphere of the Club.

CLUB SOCIAL TENNIS (WED/SAT and most PUBLIC HOLIDAYS)
From 14H00 (summer) and 13H00 (winter) until late

FRIDAY MORNING VETS
Social tennis from 9H00-12H30 (summer) / 09H30-13H00 (winter)

We have an active, competitive and boisterous Social group who enjoy their regular tennis (doubles).
The level of play varies considerably, and we try and mix foursomes to yield a balanced and enjoyable game using our disc system.
Social tennis is usually followed by drinks in the clubhouse and, at least once a month (if possible), a “bring-and-braai” on Saturdays.

Wednesday, Saturday and most Public Holiday afternoons are reserved for Social doubles tennis only (times below).
Full members and visitors with an acceptable level of proficiency, may participate. Social tennis will give visitors an instant insight into the level of play and atmosphere of the Club.

The level of play varies considerably.
Please note that our league matches can impact Saturday availability.
During these periods (Jan-March & Sept-Oct), Saturday's Social starts around 15h30 until late.
A visitor may participate 5 times per calendar year in Saturday's Social, thereafter they will be encouraged to join the Club as a “Full” member, from the 6th time the fee will increase to R100 per visit.

SWCCT SOCIAL RULES:

(Applicable during SAT/WED/PUBLIC HOLIDAY SOCIAL Tennis afternoons)
All new members will receive the SOCIAL RULES document that explains the entire process of play and what members can and can't do.
A copy of the Social Rules is also available in the Tennis Clubhouse.

As a general rule, all courts are reserved for club organised SOCIAL DOUBLES every Wednesday, Saturday as well as most Public Holiday afternoons.

During these times no visitors' private games, no singles games, no privately arranged games, no practise games or drills, nor any other exception will be allowed.

The club operates a colour code disc system (see below) as a method to organise rotation of members wishing to participate in these social events.
Members have a disc with their name and a colour dot indicating the group they are part of. Visitors will receive a “visitor’s” disc.

The colour coding seeding system yields a more balanced level of play which in turn, should be a more enjoyable experience for all.

Members are responsible for any visitors they may introduce to the club and should ensure visitors playing strengths are adequate to compete.
Only members may choose a set and the set can include a visitor.

Members not wanting to participate fully in social events are encouraged to arrange private tennis at any other time available.

COLOUR CODE SYSTEM:

Players are rated by level of play into four groups, 'A' (yellow) being the strongest group.

The disc system remains and the person whose turn it is to choose will be able to pick as follows:
GROUP A (YELLOW) - can pick any player from any group (A - D)
GROUP B (ORANGE) -can pick any player from any group (A - D)
GROUP C (GREEN) - can pick any player from groups B, C or D only
GROUP D (PINK) -can pick any player from groups C or D only
Each player's disc is clearly marked with a colour dot.

We have a great social group, strong league representation in the Boland - 10 times Grand Challenge winners - and a solid coaching team taking care of junior and senior players - see COACHING Tab
